Wildpoldsried, 30th May 2018 - sonnen and the Bavarian Homeowners’ Association have initiated a collaboration for the members of the association. The more than 80,000 homeowners will now benefit from preferential prices when purchasing a sonnenBatterie.
Worldwide, more than 30,000 households are already enjoying the benefits of private energy generation by means of a sonnenBatterie; the majority of these being homeowners. In Germany, using photovoltaic and power storage systems, homeowners are able to provide up to around 75% of their annual energy on a self-generated basis. In the sonnenCommunity, they can even connect with other members and share their energy.
sonnen is pleased to announce the closing of its latest financing round of €60 million, led by Shell Ventures and significantly supported by all existing investors. The investment enables sonnen to expand its strategy of rapid international growth and to further enhance its pioneering position as the “utility of the future.”

sonnen makes use of excess green energy, which would otherwise be lost as a result of the curtailment of PV or wind power plants, making it possible to relieve common bottlenecks on the regional distribution networks. Each kilowatt-hour used for this will receive a digital fingerprint via blockchain.

Customers who have received written rejection for storage unit subsidies in Austria can contact sonnen or a regional specialist partner by 31 May 2018. Subsidies of up to 2,500 euros (gross) per sonnenBatterie are possible.
sonnen is participating in the EU project NEMoGrid, which is testing the future energy trade between individual households via blockchain.
Wildpoldsried, 14 March 2018 - sonnen is continuing to promote the use of blockchain technology in the energy sector and as part of its efforts is participating in the EU NEMoGrid project.
The state of South Australia will subsidise the purchase of solar power and energy storage systems with over 100 million dollars. With sonnen as its technology partner, the project plans to establish the world’s largest virtual battery. sonnen will also invest in a new production facility in South Australia; for its part, the government will support the purchase of locally produced storage batteries.
